Clinical Significance

Patients with antibodies are phenotyped or antigen typed (for a specific antigen corresponding to a detected clinically significant antibody) to complete the antibody identification procedure. Phenotyping also aids with the antibody identification process to rule-out antibodies that a patient can develop.
