Clinical Significance

Antibody titration is a semi-quantitative method of determining antibody concentration. A titer is expressed as the reciprocal of the highest serum dilution that gives 1+ macroscopic agglutination. Only IgG antibodies capable of crossing the placenta need to be titered in prenatal patients.
